“I see an opportunity for DeLaval to deliver”

Liisa Staudinger, Sales Representative, brings a clear, customer-focused approach to her work at DeLaval, shaped by her agricultural background and strong sense of reliability. Motivated by teamwork and the industry’s shift toward smarter and more sustainable solutions, she is driven by the opportunity to help farmers move forward.
Liisa grew up on a small dairy farm in Haapavesi, a small community in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. The farm was modest, but it shaped her view of what good work looks like: show up, stand by your promises, and take pride in the everyday routines that keep a herd healthy and a business moving.
She went on to study agriculture and attained a bachelor’s degree, further cementing her commitment to a work life in the dairy business. Before joining DeLaval, Liisa combined hands-on experience with commercial roles. She ran a small dairy farm together with her husband for a period and later worked as a herd manager on a larger farm with five milking robots. After finishing her bachelor studies, she moved into breeding and sales at Semex, an artificial insemination company.
Building relationships, one visit at a time
After having worked at Semex for a while, Liisa felt she was ready for a new challenge in her career that kept her close to the farm and the people behind it. Through an acquaintance, she heard about an open position at DeLaval and she applied. Today, Liisa works as a Sales Representative in Finland and has been at DeLaval for about a year and a half. In her role, she keeps close contact with customers, supports existing relationships, and works to create new ones – always with the aim of helping sales grow while strengthening DeLaval’s reputation in the local market.
“A typical day often starts with email and planning and then moves quickly into farm visits. I usually visit one to three farms in a day. Depending on how many farms I visit in one day, I may spend my afternoons on other tasks.”
Some visits revolve around mapping out a farm’s future plans, others are about delivering an offer, answering questions, or closing a deal. “It always depends on where we are in the relationship,” Liisa says. What she values most is clarity and reliability. For farmers, time is limited and priorities are practical, so she aims to be straightforward, well-prepared, and easy to reach. For her, trust is built in small moments: remembering what was discussed, coming back with the right information, and doing what you promised to do.
What she’s proud of
Ask Liisa what makes her proud in her work, and she starts with the people around her. She describes the Finnish sales and aftermarket teams as balanced and motivating – colleagues who help each other, share support, and still make room for laughter. “When you get support from your colleagues, it motivates you to do your job better – because you want to give something back for the time and effort they have given you,” she says. “That team spirit has helped me trust myself and be the person I really am.”
Life outside of work
Outside of work, Liisa recharges in simple ways: yoga, time in nature, and long walks with the two dogs in her family. The outdoor rhythm is familiar and another way of staying grounded after busy days on the road visiting farmers. Being out in the nature during the winter also includes taking an ice bath to reset both her body and mind. Liisa is also currently finishing her MBA degree on the side of work, and the only thing she has left is to write her report. “My MBA studies will give me additional tools and knowledge to provide even better support to our customers,” she says.
Combining sustainability and new technology
For Liisa, dairy farming has always been close to her heart. What makes it even more exciting now is how quickly technology is evolving. “With new possibilities in artificial intelligence (AI), combined with a stronger focus on sustainability and the need for ‘greener’ production, I see a rare opportunity for DeLaval and the industry as a whole to deliver more advanced solutions that meet both farmer and consumer expectations. I want to be part of a company that can deliver these demands in the same package.”
